The Road to 100% ZEVs: Understanding California’s Advanced Clean Car Rule II

November 17, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Student Energy group at UC Davis and NorCal AEE were pleased to present the panel discussion – “The Road to 100% ZEVs: Understanding California’s Advanced Clean Car Rule II”.

Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) will be cost-effective, affordable and sustainable only when contextualized in the larger energy transition narrative. With the Advanced Clean Cars (ACC) II Rule, California has embarked on an ambitious journey to 100% electrification of light duty vehicles by 2035. This will not only mean more ZEVs but will also require a rapid deployment of charging infrastructure, strategic electricity planning and tariff setting, investments in grid upgrades, and innovative business models for making ZEVs accessible to everyone. How does the ZEV regulation interact with electricity planning? What will be required in terms of additional policies? How much investment will be needed? What are the challenges and barriers for upgrading grid infrastructure? This session is the first in a series of conversations that will bring together policymakers, researchers, and industry as California charts its pathway towards decarbonization of the transportation sector.
