In late 2021, the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, or MOSAC, opened its doors, and we got a chance to take a look inside! Our MOSAC tour guides took us on a tour of the exhibits as well as a brief planetarium show.
The museum’s mission is to serve the greater Sacramento Metro community as a dynamic regional center for people of all ages to explore science in a meaningful but informal way. MOSAC hopes to build a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) learning ecosystem that broadens and enriches each learner’s personal journey, with the ultimate goal of inspiring more students to enter STEAM careers, like ours. The museum itself was built in an old PG&E historical power station originally opened in 1912 and has been a 15-year labor of love for the City, County office of Education, Science museum supporters and organizations, and private partners like SMUD.
